Part of the famed Emerald Necklace, the Arborway in Jamaica Plain ( a neighbor to the town of Brookline ), is an incredibly serene and beuatiful parcel of land.

Designed by Frederick Olmsted, this wonderful green space is among good company, such as historic Boston Common on Beacon Hill. It is encouraging to see preserved areas in a large city where families can walk and educate themselves on indiginous plants and trees, all while enjoying exercise and fresh air.

Nearby and not to be missed is Harvard University’s Arnold Arboretum. This space is noted for every color and type of rhododendrum – in early spring, the place unfolds its magic display.

Jamaica Way, a four-lane parkway is dotted with historic, elite homes, each one of them unique and worthy of an artist’s sketch. A full day might not be enough for this splendid area – it is definitely a “must see” attraction for visitors as well as residents of this very appealing state. Yes, I may be prejudiced.
